An Orphan Boy of Vienna, 1936

An Orphan Boy of Vienna, from 1936, is built on the same story as
Der Schönste Tag meines Lebens from 1957.( Coming soon at this theatre! :-) )
I love this kind of simple and sentimental stories. They revive bittersweet feelings, bring me back in time and let me shed some tears, just like then,
a very long time ago.
For you guys and girls that are not so sentimental but share with me the love for the Wiener Sängerknaben this film is well worth seeing although in black and white with all the techniqual limitations of the 1930-ties.
Yes, of course, there is singing!

  1. Is it possible to have a valid link for the movie?

  2. I have loved this movie since it first came out on VHS. I wish a remastered edition from a pristine original could be made. In the movie Toni and Herr Bluml sing a song that begins "Ich habe noch keinen Geldschein gesehen der mein ist. Mein einzige Schein is der Sonnenschein." I have never been able to locate the sheet music to this song. Is it an Austrian folk song or was it composed for the film? I love the excerpt from Schubert's Deutsche Messe as Toni comes out of the coma. Is there a list somewhere of the music sung in the film? What Mass was being sung as they go off the street into the Church. I just can't place it, though I have heard it elsewhere.
